Hello freaks. I know. It’s been kinda lazy summer photographywise. Actually pretty lazy in every way possible. So what better than slap you with some winter photos. I checked my archives and I’ve had these night shots from last winter sitting around so I thought I might as well make some use of me and my photos.
The photos are from three different occasions while using FujiXWeekly’s Jeff Davenport Night Recipe. You can read more about the recipe clicking the link. All shots are taken hand held with Fujifilm x100v in my home town last winter.
I haven’t posted them before because I didn’t know what to do with them. I didn’t figure out a common theme for them (except the recipe itself) and most of the shots were not good enough. And there is still a lot to improve. But because the best photos were of buildings mostly, I thought it might suffice for a blog. Also I have like one blog about night photography. AND this is a chance to cool down a bit (it’s summer you know hot and all… get it… right…)…
The images are from the middle of the winter where there is snow and really cold, to a little later in the winter where it was raining water and sleet all the way to almost spring time without anything extra on the ground…
Helped this young driver getting his Lexus out of the snow. It was pretty slippery as you can see…
Moving towards spring…

I just love this storefront. Storefronts in general, like gas stations, are pretty good night photography targets since they usually have some neon lighting going on that looks either cool or weird. This one is more in the weird side.
This neon light sign of a tree is imprinted in my mind since early childhood because my grandparents from my father’s side lived in this building. I have no idea how old it is but I remember it from the early 80’s.
I think this recipe works very well with blue hues and lights. But when there’s a lot of yellow light around, it pushes it a bit too much. In total, I still enjoyed shooting with it. Next time I’ll have to bring my tripod with me and concentrate more. Now I just ran around shooting in street style. You can notice it in some of the pics the focus is off a bit. But in the end it don’t matter too much.
